WHITE RIVER REPORT  8-2010

8-24-10

WHITE RIVER: We keep talking about hoppers and in certain places and on certain flows these are really producing. Lower flows seem to help too but some heat in the day is another plus.
Like a lot of fly fishing its having your fly in the right place at the right time.
So we have been running a lot of different droppers underneath our hoppers, until the flow pushed too high. Copper Johns and Pheasant Tails are still doing well, as are Clint’s Sunday specials. But Davy Sowbugs, trailed behind  a CJ, was most productive under overcast skies on Sunday.
Midges have their place too. This year has been the year of the red midge and we keep coming back to Davy’s Red Whitetail Midge. Black and Silver Whitetails have also been strong at Bull Shoals on low water.
