NORFORK: As we mentioned earlier Norfork has had some big windows of wadable water, and some fantastic midge hatches for the light tippet emerger/Softhackle/Nymphing wade fishers. But funnily enough the best big fish reports have come on larger streamers, both on low and high water.

We have spoken a bunch about high water streamer fishing, but one seriously underutilized technique in these parts is the “Kelly Galloup” style of wade streamer fishing.

Watching some of Kelly’s videos on You Tube and the like, he is fishing relatively shallow fast water, with sinking lines to combat the current and relatively light flies like the zoo cougar, peanut envy, fatheads and dungeons. Definitely worth a thought in the fast water.

Red, black and brown hues midges have been performing well on Norfork and Tailwater Soft Hackles, and partridge and Yellow or Partridge and Green soft hackles.
